ANN LOWE
HOW WE TURNED ANN LOWE INTO A HOUSEHOLD NAME
Ann Lowe (1898–1981) was a trailblazing Black American fashion designer whose talent shaped the wardrobes of some of society’s most elite families. Despite her incredible contributions to fashion, Lowe remained largely unknown to the public during her lifetime.
She designed for the wealthiest and most influential clients, including the Rockefellers and Duponts.
Lowe was the mastermind behind Jacqueline Bouvier’s iconic wedding dress for her marriage to John F. Kennedy in 1953.
She was celebrated among fashion insiders but historically overlooked in mainstream fashion history, making her story perfect for rediscovery and celebration.
