I’m sure everyone has their reasons for moving to the most vibrant and lively city in the U.S. , mine are mostly about growth, chasing fear and getting really uncomfortable.
Honestly, I was between Atlanta and New York after graduation. I was weighing all the pros and cons and then I thought to myself why would I ever turn down an opportunity to live in New York City. so here’s why I made the move…
Reason number one being that I love people! I really do; I love getting to know new people and hearing about their life stories, their passions and dreams. I think people and human life is so beautiful. We are all having a different experience on this earth so no two people are the same. What better place to meet new people than New York. People from all different cultures, races and walks of life gather here in this beautiful city. Also, you never know who you are going to run into in here. I could be having a conversation with a CEO of a fortune 500 company, a celebrity or even my next mentor!
Secondly, I have big dreams like humongous dreams so I think its only right that I get on a big playing field. Anything you can think of exist here and that’s why I think more is possible and more people are chasing the things they love. I want to get around big people, people that will force me to grow, think better, faster and be stronger. I had a very powerful circle in Nashville but here I get to create something completely new and different. I only want people around me who are doing what I want to do on a bigger level than me or people I can consistently learn from.
Thirdly, New York is so damn inspiring! You have bums and you have billionaires and every spectrum in between. I love that I get to see the different sides of these lifestyles on a daily basis. Being in the experience of the life you want to have is an unmatched energy, unlike looking at what you want on a picture. I get to be in the presence of so much greatness and it amazes me. So many big, beautiful things here and I’ll never run out of things to do or see that will inspire me.
Lastly, if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere. I fully prepared for this city to piss me off… often, but I also know that having this experience will only make me stronger and more equipped for these gigantic things I want to accomplish. I want to have an unfuckwithable layer of skin and I know I can get that here.
And how could I forget, unlimited pizza places to try out!
Would you move to New York City? Let me know why or why not in the comments.
